NCDMV mobile office to provide services for attendees

RALEIGH – In addition to taking in the many sights and sounds of the 2018 North Carolina State Fair, attendees will be able to receive driver license services from the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles.

The DMV booth and Mobile RV will be located between the J.S. Dorton Arena and the Jim Graham Building.

From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, the DMV RV will offer driver license services for fairgoers to renew their licenses or ID cards, order duplicates, update addresses or obtain their N.C. REAL ID. REAL ID is a new, single form of identification that can be used to board commercial flights and enter military bases, federal facilities and nuclear power plants. Beginning Oct. 1, 2020, anyone traveling without a REAL ID or passport must provide additional identification.

To obtain a REAL ID license or ID card, residents must bring the following verification documents for their visit:

*One (1) proof full Social Security number: Social Security card, W-2 or 1099 tax form with full name and number
*Two (2) proofs of current address: driver license, vehicle registration card, voter registration card, cable bill, utility bill or bank statement

*Driver licenses and ID cards are issued every eight years through age 65 and are priced at $5 per year. People over 65 are issued licenses and IDs for five years. REAL ID cards for children can also be ordered for $13. Many DMV services can be done online.

DMV staff will be available every day of the fair to answer questions about career opportunities, driver licenses, REAL ID, vehicle registrations and titles, vehicle theft and identity fraud, as well as services that can be handled online without visiting an NCDMV office.

Fairgoers will also be able to pick up handbooks for motorcycle and commercial truck driving, and state maps.
