Update on Drug Roundup Brings Charges Against Multiple Suspects

According to Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday morning, nine (9) local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies came together for a drug roundup in Bladen County.  The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Narcotics Unit, along with state and federal agencies had investigated drug violations against approximately 36 suspects across Bladen County over the past several months.

By 2:00 pm, 16 people had been arrested on various drug charges from trafficking, possession, intent to sale and deliver and conspiracy to sell and deliver a controlled substance, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Suspects were transported to the Bladen County Detention Center where they were taken before a magistrate and booked into the jail.

During the roundup, a search warrant was executed at a residence off Jack Richardson Road in the Jones Lake area. Located at the residence were two different crack cocaine items totaling 12 grams, and a firearm.

Update: Tremel Howell, Brandon Blackwell and Andy Leach have turned themselves in this week, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

“I could not be more pleased with our drug unit and the agencies that assisted us in these investigations,” said Sheriff Jim McVicker.

He added, “Cooperation among agencies in fighting drug crimes and violence is a must, and we are thankful to our partners for their valuable assistance in this drug roundup.”

The Sheriff’s Office stated, approximately 20 people are still at large and asked to turn themselves in at the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office or call (910) 862-6960.

Assisting in the arrest were: the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the Elizabethtown Police Department, the Bladenboro Police Department, the White Lake Police Department, the State Bureau of  Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.
