Mark Dean had no power steering and a messed up rear axle by the end of the U-Car race Saturday night at Dublin Motor Speedway. More importantly, he also held the checkered flag and $500.
“That was the hardest race I’ve ever had to run,” Dean said on Facebook.
James Gardner finished second and Dillon Thomposn placed third, according to official results, as racing returned to Dublin after taking a week off for the Memorial Day weekend.
In the other races,
Late model division points leader Shaun Sewell, aka the “Showtime Sheriff,” won again, holding off Ryder Hammond and Dale Hammond.
Super Street division points leader Chris Powers was first to the finish line again Saturday. David Royal and Greg Spivey finished second and third, respectively.
In Open Wheel Modifieds, Wayne Gray Jr. took the checkered flag followed by Chris Parker and Brandon Marshall. Pole-winner Eric Bentley spun out while leading midway through the race and settled for fifth place.
In Pure Stock, Johnny Brown started from the pole and was in first at the end. He was followed by Riley Lewis and Michael Butler.
There were 58 cars at Dublin on Saturday for the five divisions.
The next racing program at Dublin is scheduled Saturday, June 6.
