WHITEVILLE – South Columbus snapped a 2-2 tie with a five-run third inning en route to a 9-2 victory over Bladen County on Monday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AA (Coach-Pitch) Tournament.
South Columbus took a 2-0 first-inning lead before Bladen County tied the game in the third inning. Keithan Russ pulled a single past third base, and Jayden Bethea smacked a single to rightfield. Zee Pone belted a single to centerfield, and Russ and Bethea both scored.
Bethea batted 2-for-2 and scored a run to lead the Bladen hitters. Brooks Carroll and Zee Pone both finished with two hits at the plate. Russ, Jeremiah Bryan, Eli Woodell and Aidan Thompson added one hit each to the Bladen attack. Russ scored a run.
The loss eliminated Bladen County from the tournament.
