CLARKTON – South Columbus outlasted Bladen County 8-6 Sunday in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Majors Tournament. Bladen County will play Columbus County Monday at 6 p.m. in an elimination game

Bladen County bunched four walks in the first inning to take the early lead. Aiden Russ, Cade Allen, Will Durden and Hunter Hester all drew walks with Russ scoring the run.

Russ slammed a double to start the Bladen third inning. Andre Moore drew a walk, and Durden was hit by a pitch. Russ, Moore and Durden scored runs as Bladen County built a 4-0 lead.

South Columbus rallied to within 4-3, before the Bladen team tacked on a fourth inning run. Saquain Leach led off with a single, but was retired on Moore’s fielder’s choice. Moore came around to score the run that padded the lead to 5-3.

South Columbus tied the game 5-5 in the fifth then tacked on 3 more runs in the sixth. Jonah Bryan laced a single to left to begin the Bladen sixth inning. Russ belted a single, and Bryan scored to trim the margin to 8-6.

Allen pitched the first 3 innings for Bladen County. Hester relieved in the fourth inning and Moore came on to pitch the sixth inning.

Russ batted 2-3 with a double and 2 runs scored for Bladen County. Bryan finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored. Leach connected for one hit. Moore scored twice, and Durden scored a run.
