LUMBERTON – Colt Lewis and Prince McKoy walloped home runs as Elizabethtown rallied from an early 5-1 deficit to defeat Lumberton Maroon 15-5 Sunday in an elimination game in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 AA (Coach-Pitch) Tournament.

The Maroon team scored three runs in the top of the first, but Drake Gause and Gunner Lewis belted singles in the Elizabethtown first and Gause scored to trim the margin to 3-1.

Maroon tacked on two more runs in the second, but Elizabethtown answered with two runs. Stryker Pait slammed a double, and Jameel McKiver knocked him in with a double. Noah Ray followed with a single, and Trey Wilson swatted a double as McKiver scored to slice the lead to 5-3.

Gause, Colt Lewis and Prince Powell started the Elizabethtown third inning with consecutive singles. Gunner Lewis hammered a double as Gause, Colt Lewis and Powell scored. Pait delivered a single, and McKoy slugged a home run that scored Gunner Lewis and Pait for a 9-5 Elizabethtown lead.

Sawyer King and Gause smacked singles in the Elizabethtown fourth inning and both raced home when Colt Lewis slugged his home run. Six consecutive singles by Gunner Lewis, Gauge King, Pait, Gaston Russ, McKoy and McKiver ended the game on the run rule as Gunner Lewis, Gauge King and Russ scored.

Pait and Gunner Lewis both batted 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. McKiver finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Gause batted 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Ray turned in a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate.

Colt Lewis finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and two runs scored. McKoy batted 2-for-3 with a home run and a run scored. Wilson doubled, and Powell, Gauge King, Russ and Sawyer King connected for one hit each and scored one run each.

Elizabethtown will play undefeated Lumberton Gold at 7:30 Monday night.
