Dixie Youth BaseballElizabethtown pounded out 28 hits Friday night en route to a 21-13 victory over Lumberton National in the opening round of the District 9 AA (Coach-Pitch) Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament in Lumberton.

Elizabethtown advances to play Fairmont in a winner’s bracket game at 5:30 Saturday.

Zach Sholar and Tyler Lewis started the Elizabethtown first inning with infield hits, and Davion Lewis cracked a single to rightfield. Mason Smith’s fielder’s choice plated Sholar with the first Elizabethtown run, and Dawson Wright loaded the bases with a single.

Ryan Dove walloped a triple to rightfield that scored Davion Lewis, Smith and Wright. Colton Daly smacked a single to right that brought home Dove, and Jake Gooden slammed a double to left that scored Daly for a 6-0 Elizabethtown lead.

Isaiah Robinson led off the Elizabethtown second with a single, and Sholar followed with a single. Davion Lewis rapped a single to centerfield that plated Robinson. Wright laced a single to centerfield that scored Sholar and Davion Lewis. Dove slapped a single to right that brought home Wright and kept Elizabethtown ahead 10-3.

Daly smashed a double to centerfield in the Elizabethtown third, and Easton Bostic drove him in with an infield hit that padded the lead to 11-4.

Sholar began the fourth inning with a single, and Tyler Lewis laced a single to centerfield. Smith’s fielder’s choice drove home Sholar and grew the lead to 12-5.

Dove swatted a single to centerfield to begin the Elizabethtown fifth. Gooden raked a single to left, and Bostic reached on a fielder’s choice. C. J. McCracken knocked in Gooden with a single to centerfield, before Ahmarie White blasted a 3-run home run to left-centerfield that scored Bostic and Gooden and upped the count to 16-7.

Lumberton closed the gap to 16-11, but Elizabethtown answered with 5 runs in the sixth inning. Davion Lewis connected for a single to left, and Smith crushed a triple to centerfield that scored Davion Lewis. Wright smashed a double to left that scored Smith.

Dove’s infield hit scored Wright, before Daly slugged a 2-run home run to rightfield that scored Dove and widened the gap to 21-11. Lumberton scored twice in the home sixth to trim the margin to 21-13.

Dove batted 4-4 with a triple, 5 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Sholar was 4-4 with 3 runs scored. Daly finished 3-4 at the plate with a homer, a double, 3 rbi’s and 3 runs scored.

Wright batted 3-4 with a double, 3 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Davion Lewis was also 3-4 with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Robinson finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored. Tyler Lewis was 2-4 at the plate.

Gooden batted 2-4 with a double, an rbi and a run scored. Bostic was 2-4 with an rbi and a run scored. White clubbed the 3-run homer and scored a run.

McCracken finished with a single, an rbi and a run scored. Smith clobbered the triple, drove in 3 runs and scored two.
