Dixie Youth BaseballLuke Norton and Ayden Piland combined to pitch Elizabethtown to a 9-1 victory over West Robeson that clinched the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 Majors Supplemental Tournament Championship for Elizabethtown.

Elizabethtown trailed West Robeson 13-1 midway the fourth inning of Saturday’s first round game, but over the final 8.5 innings of the best-of-three series, Elizabethtown outscored West Robeson 24-3.

Malcolm Bolden led off the Elizabethtown first with a single, and Jackson Bostic drew a walk. One out later Norton cracked a single, but Bolden was thrown out at the plate.

Piland was hit by a pitch and Will Hester walked to force home Bostic. Tyler Hill belted a single that scored Norton, and Jaylen Robinson was hit by a pitch that forced home Piland with the third Elizabethtown run.

Kory Smith and Allen Owens smacked singles to begin the Elizabethtown second inning. Ahmad Powell drove in Smith with a single, but Owens was tagged out at home.

Bolden drew a walk, and Bostic was hit by a pitch. Butler slammed a double that drove in Powell and Bolden for a 6-1 Elizabethtown lead.

Norton reached base on an error to start the Elizabethtown third inning. Piland and Hill drew walks to load the bases. Robinson was hit by another pitch to force home Norton, and Smith walked to force in Piland and stretch the lead to 8-1.

Norton, Piland, Hill and Robinson drew walks in the fifth inning. Robinson’s walk scored Norton with the ninth and final run.

Butler and Jadacus Register walloped doubles to lead the 8-hit Elizabethtown attack. Bolden, Norton, Hill, Smith, Powell and Owens connected for one hit each.

Norton started on the mound for Elizabethtown and pitched 2 innings, before Ayden Piland closed out the game with 4 scoreless innings.
