ELIZABETHTOWN – West Robeson American rallied from an early 3-1 deficit to defeat Elizabethtown 11-4 Tuesday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 Majors Tournament.

The win clinched a berth in the State Majors Tournament for West Robeson and sends them into the district championship game Wednesday night against Fairmont.

After the American squad took a 1-0 lead, Elizabethtown answered with three runs in the home half of the first. Torrean Cogdell walked and raced home when Darius Williamson hammered a double. Kalec Autry walked, and Daveon Lewis knocked in Williamson and Autry with a 2-out single.

West Robeson answered with four runs in the second inning, two runs in the third and four more in the fifth to take an 11-3 lead.

Jackson Smith walked in the Elizabethtown fifth inning and Williamson belted a single. Garrett Dunham walloped a double off the top of the left-center field fence that drove in Smith.

Natoren Corbett batted 2-for-2 for Elizabethtown. Williamson finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run batted in and a run scored. Dunham doubled home a run, and Lewis cracked the two-run single. Cogdell, Smith and Autry scored one run each.

Elizabethtown finished with a 2-2 record in the tournament.
