ELIZABETHTOWN — Hutchens Glenn and Tyler Eason combined for a no-hitter Sunday and Omar Powell clinched a 10-0 win against Red Springs with a two-out, run-producing double that advanced Elizabethtown to the semifinals of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 Majors tournament at Leinwand Park.

The game was stopped in the bottom of the fourth inning following Powell’s second double of the game because of the 10-run rule.

Elizabethtown is scheduled to play Fairmont on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in an elimination game. Monday’s winner will advance to play West Robeson on Tuesday in the championship game. West Robeson beat Fairmont 18-0 on Sunday.

Two teams from District 9 will advanced to the state tournament scheduled in Leland in July.

Glenn struck out four and walked two in 2.1 innings. He was removed after 37 pitches. Dixie Youth rules require a pitcher who throws more than 40 pitches in a game to have 36 hours rest before pitching again.

Tyler pitched 1.2 innings, struck out two and walked one.

Powell was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs batted in to lead the Elizabethtown offense. Seth Faircloth and Glenn each had a hit.

Fox Sutton and Faircloth each scored twice for Elizabethtown. Cade Rogers, Glenn, Eason, Lathen Cashwell, Powell and Noah German each scored a run. Cashwell, Sutton, Devance Tatum, Chandler Wall and Delton Murdock each drove in a run.

Elizabethtown scored seven runs in the first inning to take control. Glenn’s infield single to third was the lone hit during the frame. Elizabethtown used five walks, three hit batters and an error to plate its runs.

In the third, Powell ripped a one-out double to left and scored on a pair of wild pitches that gave Elizabethtown an 8-0 lead.

In the fourth, Sutton walked and later scored when Tatum reached on a fielder’s choice. Powell followed with his second double that scored Faircloth, who had singled and moved to second on a wild pitch, with the game-ending tally.
