An early morning house fire damaged a home on NC 210. The fire was reported at 6:30 a.m. at 2634 NC Highway 210 East, Harrells.

The home’s owner, Scott Highsmith, said, “I wasn’t up, but my daughter was up getting ready for school.”

He said his daughter woke him up and showed him smoke coming from the fuse box. Highsmith said he heard a pop and that is when the fire began. Highsmith said he told his daughter everything would be okay and got everyone out of the house. No one was injured.

“The damage is really bad,” said Highsmith as he stood in the yard watching fire crews work to make sure the fire was completely out.

Bladen County Emergency Management Director Bradley Kinlaw said the home suffered water damage from the ceiling down to the floors and fire damage in the ceiling.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Bladen County Emergency Services, Bay Tree Lakes Fire Department, Hickory Grove Fire Department, and White Lake Fire Department all responded to the scene.
