The National Weather Service of Wilmington announced Thursday that due to abnormally warm temperatures that have been recorded in the area, with most of local climate sites recording the fourth warmest February on record, and the potential for below normal temperatures in the next 1- to 2-weeks, NWS Wilmington will begin its growing season forecasts early this year on Thursday, March 9.

It means that beginning March 9, the National Weather Service will begin issuing Freeze Watches, Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories as needed for southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina until the end of the growing season late in the fall.
