Two East Bladen athletes – senior Xavier Wooten and sophmore Patience Ward – are nominated in the weekly Wilmington Star News poll to select their Stand-out Performer for the Week.
Wooten rushed for 309 yards and 6 touchdowns to lead an Eagle offense that pilled up 557 rushing yards and 640 total yards in a 68-28 East Bladen victory over Greene Central in the NCHSAA Class 2A Football Play-offs. It is the second straight week that Wooten has been nominated.
Ward came up just two steals short of a triple double in East Bladen’s 54-15 season-opening girls basketball victory over South Brunswick. Ward racked up 27 points, 13 rebounds and 8 steals in the win.
