East Bladen High School

East Bladen’s Eagles will battle perennial Class 4A power Scotland in the 1st Annual “Battle of the Borders” Football Classic on August 11 at Lumberton High School.

This year’s scrimmage at Alton Brooks Stadium will feature 4 teams from South Carolina and 6 teams from North Carolina. North Carolina teams include: Lumberton, Purnell Swett, Fairmont, West Brunswick, Fairmont and East Bladen. South Carolina teams are Dillon, Latta, Lakeview and Marlboro.

Each scrimmage will be use the full 100-yard field with each scrimmage lasting 2 quarters.

A year ago, Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles participated in a similar event at Lumberton that was called the “Battle for the Carolinas.” The Eagles led Latta, S.C. until the final seconds when a late touchdown and conversion led to an 8-7 Latta victory.

Coach Richard Bailey’s Scotland Fighting Scots are 39-4 over the last 3 seasons and present a formidable foe for the Eagles.

5 p.m.   Fairmont NC vs. Lakeview SC
6 p.m.   Scotland NC vs. East Bladen NC
7 p.m.   West Brunswick NC vs. Latta SC
8 p.m.   Purnell Swett NC vs. Dillon SC
9 p.m.   Lumberton NC vs Marlboro SC
