East Bladen Basketball Team

Elizabethtown, NC – At the May Board of Education meeting, the Board Chair Ophelia Munn-Goins and Vice-chair Alan West along with fellow board members recognized the East Bladen Lady Eagles for their outstanding athletic season.

With an overall record of 26-1 and a conference record of 14-0, a conference player of the year, three All-Star team conference players, an All-State named player, a North Carolina Coaches Team Selection player, an All-Area First Team player, an All-Cape Fear Region First Team player, a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame US Army Award of Excellence, a Team Defensive Player of the Year, a Time Warner Scholar Athlete of the Week, a Mountainaire Athlete of the Month, a North Carolina High School Athletic Association Clary Medal recipient, a conference leading points per game player, a second leading conference rebounds per game player, three conference leading assists per game players, two conference leading steals per game players, three conference leading blocks per game players, four conference leading field goal leaders per game players, one conference leading free throws per game player, two conference leading 3-point leaders per game players, a team that made it to the 2A State championship Playoffs, advancing to the third round and a Coach who received the State Victory Club award for her 400th career win and will serve on the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Board of Directors, the East Bladen Lady Eagles Basketball Team has proven themselves a viable force on the court.

Congratulations to the following ladies for their outstanding accomplishments this season:

·       Abby Ward – #1 in conference assists per game, #2 in conference steals per game, #5 in conference field goals per game, and #1 in conference 3-points per game, and a Four County Conference All-Star Team.

·       Michelle Page

·       Lexie Mendell

·       SharDajah Brown

·       Emily Scott

·       Lacey Suggs – #1 in conference points per game, #4 in conference assists per game, #1 in conference steals per game, #2 in conference field goals per game, #1 in conference free throws per game, #3 in conference 3-points per game, Four County Conference Player of the Year, named to the  NCPreps.com Class 2-A All-State Basketball Team, a North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association District 4 First Team selection, a Wilmington Star-News All-Area Girls Basketball First Team, and an All-Cape Fear Region Basketball First Team by the Fayetteville Observer.

·       Miller Heustess

·       Danielle McDowell

·       Christiana Cromartie – #3 in conference assists per game, and #2 in conference blocks per game

·       Imani Turner-Dobson – #2 in conference rebounds per game, #1 in conference blocks per game, #3 in conference field goals per game, and a Four County Conference All-Star Team.

·       Lexi Dawson

·       Abby Norris – #5 in conference blocks per game, #4  in conference field goals per game, a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame US Army Award of Excellence, named the 2014 East Bladen Basketball Team Defensive Player of the Year, named the 2015 Time Warner Scholar Athlete of the Week, named the 2015 Mountainaire Athlete of the Month,  and was selected as the recipient of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 2015 Clary Medal Award for an outstanding female student-athlete.

The team is led by:

·       Assistant Coaches Alan West and Megan Kirby

·       Manager Grey Cabellero

·       Statisticians Anna Brewer, Morgan Higgins, and Joy Matthis

The team head Coach is Patty Evers who received the Victory Club Award from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association in recognition of her 400th career win this season and has also been named to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Board of Directors.
