East Bladen High School

East Bladen’s girls basketball team will play in the Laney High School Thanksgiving Invitational Friday and Saturday at Wilmington Laney. Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles are off to a 2-0 start after blow-out wins over Southwest Onslow (52-11) and St. Pauls (57-10).

Friday at 10 a.m. the Lady Eagles will play Jack Britt from Fayetteville. Last year Coach Patty Evers’ East Bladen squad defeated Britt 41-33 in the Laney Invitational. That Britt squad featured Alabama signee Ccoriea Foy and reached the Class 4-A Sectional Finals before finishing with a 20-6 record.

This season Coach Nattie McArthur’s Lady Buccaneers have started 0-3 with losses to Raleigh Leesville Road (47-19), Wilmington Ashley (49-42) and Westover (55-47).

Saturday at 10 a.m. the Lady Eagles will battle Hoke County. The Lady Bucks are off to a 3-1 start with wins over Terry Sanford (40-37), Seventy First (50-29) and Pine Forest 57-53. Hoke County’s lone loss was to South View (49-43).
