East Bladen High SchoolEast Bladen’s unbeaten Lady Eagles, 25-0 and the top seed in the NCHSAA Class 2-A Play-offs, entertain No. 16 seed Goldsboro Monday at 6 p.m. in a second round game.

Saturday evening the Lady Eagles opened the play-offs with a 59-42 victory over Eastern Randolph. Junior Lacey Suggs poured in 26 points for East Bladen, and senior center Imani Turner-Dobson just missed a triple-double with 10 points, 17 rebounds and 8 blocked shots.

Suggs raised her team-high scoring average to 22.2 points per game. Suggs also averages 6.7 steals, 5.7 rebounds and 3 assists per game.

Turner-Dobson contributes 9.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.7 blocked shots per game. Senior forward Abbey Norris pulls down 7 rebounds and adds 6.4 points per game.

Point guard Abby Ward collects 7.1 points, 4.7 steals and 4.3 assists per game. Junior Christiana Cromartie fills the stat sheet with 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

Five-10 junior Tyona Moses pours in almost 24 points per game to lead the Goldsboro offense. Junior point guard Destini Covington follows with 9.3 points per game.

Senior Markia Garner scores 8.4 ppg and pulls down 4 rebounds per game for the Lady Cougars. Six-foot senior Amari Thompson adds 5.7 points and 4 rebounds. Senior Alexus Davis, a 5-10 forward, averages 5.1 ppg.

Coach Latina Bullock’s Cougars are 12-7 and finished second in the Eastern Carolina Conference. Goldboro lost twice in conference play to No. 8 seed Kinston, 53-44 and 53-45. The winner of Monday’s East Bladen/Goldsboro game will play Kinston Tuesday night.

Goldsboro also lost twice to 24-0 Eastern Wayne, a Class 3-A team.
