CHAPEL HILL – For the first time in 21 years, East Bladen has been left out of the NCHSAA Football Playoffs. However the omission will require a COVID asterisk because in any normal year the Eagles had the credentials to easily qualify with their 5-2 record.

Losses to St. Pauls and Red Springs led to a 3rd place finish and with the compacted playoffs, only the top two Three Rivers Conference teams received automatic bids. The two teams receiving Class 2A wild-card bids in the East were Southwest Onslow (4-1) and South Granville (5-2).

Receiving playoff berths from the Three Rivers with their seeding and 1st round opponent are:
Class 1A
No. 1 West Columbus (2-3) vs. No. 8 Pamlico County (4-2)

Class 2A
No. 5 Red Springs (4-1) vs. No. 4 Wallace-Rose Hill (4-3)

Class 2AA
No. 2 St. Pauls (5-0) vs. No. 7 Randleman (7-0)
