East Bladen will host Trinity Saturday at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the NCHSAA Class 2A men’s soccer play-offs. Admission is $6.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Eagles won the Three Rivers Conference championship with a 13-1 league record and were 17-1-2 overall.

Senior Greyson Heustess leads the Eagle attack with 32 goals and 16 assists. Junior Gabe Barber follows with 10 goals and 6 assists. Junior Jake Evans has scored 9 goals and 8 assists despite missing 9 games due to an injury.

Senior Ezequiel Arteaga sparks the East Bladen defense with 108 steals. Senior Pierce Melvin has been credited with 104 steals. Senior Dan Tatum and Barber have racked up 90 steals each. Heustess has 87 steals, and junior Jay McGill follows with 86 steals.

Senior goalie Spencer Scott has recorded 4 shutouts in goal since returning from an injury suffered in the season opener. Sophmore Jacob Priest posted 8 shutouts in goal in the 15 games that Scott missed.

Trinity finished 9-3 and in third place in the Pac 7 Conference behind Wheatmore and Jordan-Matthews. The Bulldogs who sport a 13-8 overall record are led by sophmore Leo Dominquez with 14 goals scored.

Sophmore Quinton O’Hara follows with 8 goals and 6 assists. Juniors Bryan Hernandez and Michael Rutayisire share time in goal for the Bulldogs. Hernandez has been credited with 82 goals in 9 games, while Rutayisire has 76 saves in 10 games.

The winner of Saturday’s game will battle the winner of Wallace-Rose Hill and Dixon in the second round.
