The undefeated East Bladen girls’ soccer team will host Elizabeth City Northeastern on Tuesday in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
In softball, West Bladen will play at top-seeded South Granville in the opening round at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pairings for baseball, softball and girls’ soccer were released Monday by the state organization.
The East Bladen baseball team was in the running for a bid, but missed out.
The East Bladen girls’ soccer team is 17-0, outscored its opponents 89-5 and posted 12 shutouts this season. The Eagles received the No. 8 in the 2-A East brackets.
Hannah Devane has 24 goals and 28 assists to lead the East Bladen offense. Ashley Hardin has 12 goals and 23 assists. Katie Evans has 16 goals and 12 assists.
Northeastern will bring a 6-9-3 record into Tuesday’s match. Northeastern finished third in the Northeastern Coastal 2-A Conference with a 4-4 record.
Tuesday’s winner will play the winner between Nash Central (17-3) and N.C. School of Science and Math (7-6). If East Bladen beats Northeastern, the second round game would be played at East Bladen.
The West Bladen softball team went 11-12, including a 10-8 record in the Three Rivers 1-A/2-A Conference. The Knights finished fourth overall in the 10-team league and were third among 2-A teams. West Bladen was seeded No. 32 in the East.
Alara Cashwell is batting .472 with 38 RBIs to lead the West Bladen offense. Kyla Reed is batting .433 with 15 RBIs. Carley Dawson is hitting .392 with 23 RBIs.
South Granville is 19-0 and won the Northern Carolina 1-A/2-A Conference. The Vikings have outscored opponents 251 to 23.
Brianne Coleman leads South Granville with a .627 batting average, has driven in 46 runs and blasted 12 home runs. Ally Goss, Emma Jones and Megan White each have averages at .500 or better. Freshman Brooke Bowling is 18-0 with a 1.34 ERA and has struck out 128 batters in 104 2/3 innings.
