The East Bladen Eagles will host the Wilson Beddingfield Bruins on Friday in the first round of the state 2-A football playoffs. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Lenon Fisher Field.

Pairings were announced Saturday afternoon by the N.C. High School Athletic Association. East Bladen is the No. 8 seed and Beddingfield is No. 9.

The winner of the game will play the winner between top-seeded Elizabeth City Northeastern and No. 16 Fairmont on Nov. 23.

The Eagles (9-2) finished second in the nine-team Three Rivers 1-A/2-A Conference. East Bladen losst 28-13 at South Columbus on Friday in the game that decided the league championship. It was East Bladen’s only conference loss.

Beddingfield (8-2) finished second in the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference with a 5-1 league record. The Bruins lost to league champion SouthWest Edgecombe 39-14 on Nov. 1 in the game that decided the league championship. Beddingfield’s nonconference loss came against rival Wilson Fike 38-34 in early September. The Bruins have scored 333 points and allowed 163 points this season.

East Bladen opened the season with a 14-0 loss against Clinton, then won nine straight before losing to the Stallions on Friday. The Eagles have sored 343 points and allowed 197 points this season.
