KERNERSVILLE – East Bladen’s A. J. Smith and Cate DeVane will run Friday afternoon in the NCHSAA Class 2A State Cross Country Championships at the Ivey M Redmon Sports Complex.
Smith, a senior who won all 5 of his Three Rivers Conference races this season qualified for Friday’s championship race with a 9th place finish in Saturday’s Mid East Regional at Cary.
DeVane, a sophomore, won 3 of her Three Rivers races and qualified Saturday with a 10th place finish in the regional while setting a new East Bladen girls school record.
Per the NCHSAA website, Smith is scheduled to be in the first section of the boys race that will start at 2 p.m. Friday. DeVane is in the second section of the girls race that begins at 4:15 p.m.
