East Bladen’s 4×400 meter girls relay team won the Three Rivers Conference championship in their event and they are ready to compete in the Class 2A MidEast Regionals Friday in Franklinton.

“I feel like I have a great responsibility to give us a lead being out first,” said sophomore Teronda Autry. “We really work as a team, and I have a lot of confidence in us going into regionals”

Sophomore Rachel Hurrell said, “I think we have been successful because we love each other and we are our biggest supporters. I can’t wait to take it to the next level with them.”

“Though my time on the team has been short-lived prior to conference, I believe we are really prepared to show what we can bring to regional,” said sophomore Alicia McKiver.

Aaniyah Jackson runs the anchor leg for the Lady Eagles and shared, “It’s a lot of pressure being last, but my girls are my biggest motivators and they get me through.”

McKiver also won the 400 meter dash at the Three Rivers Championships. “It was tiring, but I pushed through. It takes perseverance. I started running them late in the season, but I developed a passion for it.”
