FRANKLINTON- East Bladen seniors Eian Hines and Atlas Goss won events Saturday in the Mid-East Regional Track Meet. Eian Hines won the Long Jump, and Goss won the Discus Throw. The Eagle Boys team finished fifth in the team standings with 48 points.

Eian Hines’ winning jump was 22 feet, 2.5 inches. His twin brother Ethan Hines finished third with a leap of 21 feet, 9 inches.

Goss hurled the discus 139 feet, 2.5 inches to win the event by over 3 inches. Teammate Jody Hammond finished 12th with a throw of 103 feet, 3 inches.

Ethan Hines finished second in the Boys 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.34 seconds. Eian Hines was right behind him in third place with a time of 11.5 seconds.

Alejandro Moreno of Jordan-Matthews won the 100 Meters in 11.27 seconds. West Bladen’s Ty’kee Jeffries finished ninth in a preliminary heat with time of 11.80 and didn’t qualify for the finals.

East Bladen’s 4X100 Meter Relay Team (junior Travaris Carter, senior C. J. Murphy, senior Eian Hines, senior Ethan Hines) finished second with a time of 43.89 seconds. Carrboro won the event with a time of 43.71 seconds.

Carrboro scored 104.5 points to win the Boys Regional Meet. West Bladen finished in twenty-first place with 3 points. The Lady Knights finished in twenty-third place with 2 points. Durham School of the Arts won the Girls Regional team title with 173.5 points.

Goss finished tenth in the Shot Put with a throw of 40 feet, 2 inches. West Bladen’s Isaac Arellano was 12th with a toss of 37 feet, 2 inches. Teammate Christopher Council finished 14th with a throw of 31 feet, 6 inches.

West Bladen’s Girls 4X100 Meter Relay Team (junior Tamea Lucy, freshman Jamil Bostic, Lamea Jeffries, junior Patience Parker) finished seventh with a time of 53.45 seconds to score the Lady Knights’ 2 points. High Point Andrews won the regional with a time of 49.92.

The West Bladen Girls 4X200 Meter Relay Team was disqualified in their preliminary heat.

West Bladen’s Boys 4X200 Meter Relay Team (senior James Moore, senior Ty’kee Jeffries, junior Michael Hepburn, junior Benjamin Drake) finished sixth in the 4X200 Meter Relay final with a time of 1:36.54 and scored the 3 points for the Knight Boys. Reidsville won the event with a time of 1:31.17.

The same West Bladen team competed in the 4X100 Meter Relay Final but was disqualified.

Jeffries also competed in the 200 Meter Dash and finished 12th with a time of 24.75 seconds. Carrboro’s Quinton Adams won the 200 Meters with a time of 22.37.

Junior Justin Best finished seventh in a preliminary heat and qualified for the final in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 19.45. Best also finished 12th in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 47.27. Will Manneh of High Point Andrews won the event with a time of 41.39 seconds.

In the 4X400 Meter Relay Final, East Bladen (senior Malik Hogan, senior Griordan Graham, junior James Monk, junior A. J. Wynn) finished ninth with a time of 3:53.44. West Bladen (junior Michael Hepburn, junior Corey McLaughlin, freshman Dashawn Hines, sophmore Kerron Washington) took 13th place with a time of 4:03.12. Carrboro won the event with a time of 3:27.67.

West Bladen’s Kerron Washington finished fifteenth in the Triple Jump with a leap of 32 feet, one inch. St. Pauls’ Dakota Oxendine won the event with a leap of 42 feet, 2.5 inches.
