August is Overdose Awareness Month. Between the years of 2014 and 2017 there were more than 100 deaths in Bladen County due to some type of drug overdose, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services report.

Eastpointe will hold a health, wellness and recovery event, “Honoring the Silence”, on Tuesday, August 27th in observance of the Overdose Awareness Month, according to William Sellers with Eastpointe.

The event is free, open to the public and will offer information that relates to Bladen County. There will be a Panel Discussion with Special Guest Speakers. The event will be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Office located at 450 Smith Circle in Elizabethtown from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon.

Eastpointe is a managing behavioral healthcare organization for Bladen, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Lenoir, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland, Wayne, and Wilson Counties.
