A new service is coming to Healthworks in Elizabethtown in the form of electrolysis. Anna Jacobs, who is board certified in electrolysis, is booking appointments and is planning an Open House for June 21st.

Jacobs said electrolysis is the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved permanent hair removal system. The way it works, according to Jabobs, an electronic probe is inserted into the hair follicle and the probe is heated. She said the customer will feel a slight heating sensation.

Electrolysis can be performed on both men and women. Jacobs said the most common procedures she performs include mustaches on women and unibrow and back hair removal on men.

She said she became interested in electrolysis when she decided she wanted to have the procedure on her upper lip. Jacobs after having the procedure she was intrigued with electrolysis. She said after her husband became disabled she took a class to learn to perform electrolysis in South Carolina and passed the licensing exam in North Carolina. Jacobs has had her own electrolysis business in Fayetteville since 1995.
