The National Weather Service has issued an elevated fire danger alert for Monday in Bladen County.

The combination of low relative humidity and gusty west and northwest wind Monday afternoon and evening will lead to an increased fire danger, according to alert issued Monday at 6:27 a.m.

Winds are forecast to occasionally gust 20 to 25 mph, while relative humidity drops to 20 to 25 percent Monday afternoon into evening.

The National Weather Service advises people to refer to local burn permitting authorities on whether burning is allowed. If burning is allowed, then do so using extreme caution.
