Enjoyable cuisine and a heart-felt show is what the Elizabethtown Christian Academy (ECA) Drama Club brought to the table Saturday evening with the help of many volunteers, and Drama Director Mrs. Tammy Hatchell. “The Word Is Love” dinner and variety show was a huge success that ended with a standing ovation.

Headmaster Ronald Montgomery welcomed everyone and provided the blessing over the evening. Dinner was complete with a salad, lasagna or spaghetti, bread sticks and different desserts to choose from with refreshing tea, water and coffee to drink. The variety show was broken into three parts, ‘Love of Others’, ‘Love of Country’, and ‘Love of God’.

The audience was reminded about everything from “Puppy Love”, the love of parents, and the love between a husband and wife in the opening act of the show. An actor even preformed as “Elvis” to help get the hearts pumping with the song “All Shook Up”.

An interpretative dance to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” along with other skits, songs and dances revived the love of country in people attending.  “The show is really great. ’The Love of Country’ is my favorite part of this variety show,” one audience member said.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude…,” I Cornithians 13:4, is a central theme in the last act of the variety show. Love of God is sometimes hard to explain, but the drama club could not have done a better job. The performance ended with another inspiring dance to the song, “Light Your Candle.” The crowd stood to their feet with applause and admiration for the ECA Drama Club, director and volunteers.

The club members of the show are Addie Bowen, Rylee Brice, Reece Hester, Molly Evans, Zoe Smith, Thad Brission, Blaine Pope, Zack Metz, Peyton Tatum, Johnathan Thaggard, Jair McElveen, Natoren Corbett, Cydney Campbell, Addison Guy, Alyssa Strickland, Jenna Lambert, Michaiah Carson, Melynda Storms, Case Knight, Travis Taylor, Nathan Howell, Jay Smith, Skylar Suggs, Gracie Watkins, Abbigail Boerschlein, Kylee Kellam, Maddison Cooke.

An encore performance of the Elizabethtown Christian Academy’s variety show “The Word is Love”, presented by the ECA Drama Club, will take place on Wednesday, April 1st at 9:30am in the Elizabethtown Baptist Church Christian Activity Center.  Admission is free and the public is invited.
