After a very long COVID-riddled two years, Beta students across the state were able to reconvene in person for the 30th NC Junior Beta Club Convention in Greensboro. Elizabethtown Christian Academy’s Landry Singletary, the 2021-2022 Elementary Vice-president, served her official duties and gave her farewell speech Tuesday morning.

Club members rallied around Ayden Chadwick, hoping for another vice-presidential win. Despite losing the election, Ayden performed well on the stage, as did her schoolmates. The group won 1st place in Skit Campaign.

The opportunity to compete at the state level always opens the door to make new friends, gain an appreciation for some great schools across the state, and generate excitement about competing on the national level. The National Beta Convention will be held in Nashville in June.

“I love Beta and all it stands for,” said Beverly Bridgers, Head of School. “ECA is such a small school. We’re growing, but we’re still relatively small. With 14 students in our club, it’s tough to compete with clubs that have 40 or 50 plus members. We’re limited in what competitions we can enter students, but our small crowd walked away with 13 awards. That’s not bad for a small school.”

Under the leadership of club sponsor, Mrs. Genia Hester, ECA won the following awards:

1st place: Elementary Woodworking, Christian Andrews

1st place: Elementary Recyclable Art, Cooper Sasser

1st place: Elementary Jewelry, Kaitlyn Todd

2nd place: Junior Mixed Media, Isabella Beard

3rd place: Junior Color Photography, Jag Gooden

3rd place: Elementary Creative Writing, Christian Andrews

3rd place: 3-D Design

4th place: 2-D Design

5th place: Elementary Color Photography, Cooper Sasser

5th place: Elementary Speech, Caity McLaurin

5th place: Elementary B & W Photography, Caity McLaurin

5th place: Elementary Poetry, Kaitlyn Todd
