The Elizabethtown Town Council is expected to approve an agreement Monday for a $2.575 million Community Development Block Grant-Neighborhood Revitalization Program following a required second public hearing.

The Council is scheduled to conduct its regular monthly meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at Town Hall located at 805 West Broad Street. The public hearing is listed among the first items on the proposed agenda. The meeting is open to the public.

The grant from the N.C. Department of Commerce will be used to design and construct an 11,000 square foot Community Center on Martin Luther King Drive.

The facility is designed to meet the needs of the residents with a new playground, indoor event space, multipurpose full-size playing surface with bleachers, locker rooms, commercial kitchen, meeting offices and substantial parking.

In other business, the council will:

• Consider approving surplus items, including a 2014 Dodge Charger, 1991 car lift and two K-9 transport systems.

• Receive an update on the annexation of Elizabethtown Industrial Park.
