Elizabethtown Town Council met in regular session Monday evening. Ms. Roslyn Lewis of 607 South Poplar Street addressed the Council regarding being billed 10 years for sewer services while she was on her own septic tank. After much discussion and review of records dating back to 1980, Councilman Howell Clark asked her what it would take to remedy the situation and make her happy. Ms. Lewis stated she had figured an average of $9 per month for 10 years. Mayor Campbell stated that the Council would discuss the matter and get back to her.

Fire Chief West asked the Council to declare Engine #557 as surplus property and approve the disposition of the truck by private party sale. The Chief explained that the Department would like to purchase Technical equipment and truck from Elizabethtown Rescue for $75,000.00, so that the department could continue to provided needed emergency services not provided by rescue squads. Council approved the truck as surplus property, but requested that it be disposed of through govdeals.com where it would garner the most money.

In administrative matters, Council approved the audit contract with Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams and Co.; approved Tax Releases ($678.68); and heard the monthly financial report. The Capital Improvement Plan for 2017-2021 was approved with much discussion. Dicky Glenn was the lone vote against the CIP, stating that he “thinks the Town is spending too much money and therefore I will vote against it.”

The Council then went into closed session for Attorney-Client Privilege.
