During the Noon work session of the Elizabethtown Town Council on Monday, Council members were presented with the FY 2018-2019 Budget proposal. The FY 18-19 General Fund totals $4,766,233 which is 14.7% less than the previous year adopted budget of $5,585,960. The Water Fund totals $1,577,00(1.6% decrease) making the total budget for all town operations $6,343,233. Highlights for the budget include

• Tax rate is unchanged ($0.615 per $100 valuation)

• Solid Waste, Sanitation, Solid Waste fees will increase 2.5%

• 2.5% cost-of-living increase for all employee salaries (except police, 6.5%)

There was some discussion during the evening Town Council meeting regarding debt reduction. Councilman Dicky Glenn gave the Council a proposal to consider an alternative to 40-year loans by utilizing current reserves. Town Manager, Eddie Madden, Finance Director Jay Letterman and Glenn will meet to discuss the proposal and make a recommendation to the full council in June.

A public hearing will be held June 4th to receive public comment on the proposed budget.
