The Twins fought back from deficits of 5-0 and 7-5 to defeat the Orioles 11-7 Wednesday night in the Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball Minor League Championship game.

A 4-run rally in the fifth inning snapped a 7-7 tie and propelled the Twins to the win. Torrean Cogdell started the rally with a single to leftfield. Garrett Dunham slammed a double to left that scored Cogdell. Natoren Corbett beat out an infield hit, and an error on the play scored Dunham.

Coley Sasser smashed a double to rightfield that scored Corbett, and Sasser scored on Isaiah Lee’s fielder’s choice to push the lead to 11-7.

The Orioles had taken a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Conner Padrick yanked a single to leftfield, and Conner Smith walked to start the inning. Cooper Padrick drew a walk, before Dawson Wright hammered a 2-run double to right-centerfield.

Treden Scott beat out an infield hit that scored a run, and Landon Merritt delivered a single that plated the fifth run.

The Twins answered with 2 runs in the home first. Cogdell drew a walk, and Dunham knocked him in with a single to left-centerfield. Natoren Corbett belted a single that scored Dunham.

In the Twins second inning, Iveonna ‘NeNe’ Ward walked, and Jackson Smith smacked a single. Both Ward and Jackson Smith scored to trim the margin to 5-4.

Dunham walloped a triple to left field and scored the tying run for the Twins in the third inning.

Wright walked in the top of the fourth and raced home when Chace Butler clobbered a triple to leftfield. Landon “Brice” Scott laced a single that scored Butler and put the Orioles back in front 7-5.

The Twins pulled back even with 2 runs in the Twins fourth. Lee blasted a triple, and Jackson Smith drove him in with a single to left-centerfield. Laila Smith swatted a single to right, and Adonis Smith cracked a single to right-centerfield that scored Jackson Smith with the tying run.

Dunham batted a perfect 3-3 with a double and a triple to lead the Twin hitters. Jackson Smith finished a perfect 2-2 at the plate, and Corbett turned in a 2-3 game at the plate. Lee slugged the triple, and Sasser smashed the double. Laila Smith and Adonis Smith added one hit each.

Merritt batted a perfect 2-2 to lead the Orioles. Cooper Padrick finished 2-3 at the plate. Logan McKoy and Wright slammed doubles, and Butler crushed the triple. Conner Smith, Tredon Scott and Landon “Brice” Scott added one hit each.

Sasser started on the mound for the Twins but was relieved by Cogdell in the first. Cogdell worked 3.2 innings before reaching the pitch-count limit. Cole Butler relieved Cogdell and pitched the final 2.1 innings to pick up the win.

Cogdell struck out 7 and allowed 5 hits and one walk. Butler struck out one and gave up 4 hits and one walk.
