The Red Sox defeated the Mets 14-7 Friday night in the championship game of the Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament at Leinwand Park.

The game started on Thursday night but rain halted play in the second inning with the regular-season champion Red Sox ahead 3-2.

When play resumed Friday the Red Sox pulled away with 6 runs in the third inning. Abijah Rhoda beat out an infield hit, and Easton Bostic reached base on an infield hit. Jayce Hatcher laced a 2-run double to centerfield that scored Abijah Rhoda and Bostic.

C. J. McCracken ripped a double to leftfield that scored Hatcher. Brady Marlowe beat out an infield hit, and Tyler Eason smashed a double to right-centefield that scored McCracken. Hunter Wood’s infield hit plated Marlowe, and Ayden Williams knocked in Eason with a single to centerfield.

The Mets closed the gap to 9-5 in the top of the fourth. Omar Powell led off with a single to centerfield, and J. D. MacArthur raked a single to leftfield. Noah German walloped a triple down the leftfield line that scored Powell and MacArthur. Joshua Dawson lined a single to centerfield that scored German.

The Red Sox answered with 2 runs in the fourth to push the lead to 11-5. Rex Register and Abijah Rhoda beat out infield hits, and both runners scored on an error.

Three more Red Sox runs in the fifth widened the gap to 14-5. McCracken started the rally with a double, and Eason beat out an infield hit. Wood cracked a single to left that scored McCracken, and Rhoda’s fielder’s choice scored Eason.

Powell legged out an infield hit to begin the Met sixth inning, and Conner reached base on an infield hit. Powell was retired on MacArthur’s fielder’s choice, before Dawson swatted a 2-run single to rightfield that scored Conner and MacArthur.

Bostic and Eason both batted a perfect 3-3 to lead the Red Sox hitters. Hatcher slammed two doubles, and McCracken also blasted a pair of doubles.  Abijah Rhoda turned in a perfect 2-2 performance. Marlowe finished 2-3 at the plate with a double.

Williams and Wood both batted 2-3. Dawson Edwards, Register, John Monroe, and Urijah Rhoda added one hit each.

Powell batted 3-4 to lead the Met hitters. Dawson turned in a perfect 2-2 game at the plate, and MacArthur and Jaylen Smith both finished 2-3 at the plate. Demarius Guions hammered a triple, and German smashed a double. Braylon Cromartie, Conner and Sayvion Covington connected for one hit each.

The Red Sox grabbed a 3-0 first inning lead on Thursday as Bostic rapped a single, and Hatcher drove him in with a double. Marlowe lined a double that scored Hatcher and Eason slapped a single that scored Marlowe.

MacArthur and Smith smacked singles in the Met second inning, and both scored when Guions slugged a 2-run triple to slice the lead to 3-2 before the rain stopped play.
