Elizabethtown, NC – The Town of Elizabethtown, in collaboration with Curtis Brown Airport, is excited to announce a free aviation summer camp for students in grades 5 through 8. The camp will be held from June 18 to June 21, 2024, at Curtis Brown Airport, and will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This unique educational opportunity, sponsored by corporate partners Campbell Oil Co.Sovereign Air, and the North Carolina Department of Aviation, aims to inspire young minds with a hands-on, interactive curriculum covering various aspects of aviation.

Camp Activities:
– Aircraft Familiarization
– Navigation
– Weather
– Aircraft Maintenance
– Flight Characteristics
– Drone Flight Rules and Navigation
– Future Aviation Job Opportunities
– Helicopter Familiarization
– Air Traffic Control System

The camp will feature expert instructors from the aviation industry, ensuring students receive high-quality education and practical experience. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including opportunities to fly drones.
