The Elizabethtown Police Department arrested Tanner Cole Atkins on Friday, Nov. 13, on charges involving a breaking and entering case from June.

Atkins, of White Plains Church Road in Clarkton, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, larceny of firearm, and possession of stolen firearm. Atkins was placed in the Bladen County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond. “On June 2, 2015, Elizabethtown officers received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of firearms at 210 Renaldi Street in Elizabethtown,” said Interim Elizabethtown Police Chief Kip Hester.

He said that upon arriving at the residence officers learned from the homeowner that suspect may have entered the residence through an unlocked window. Hester said that once inside, the suspect stole two firearms — an AR-15 and a 12 gauge shotgun.  Hester said that on Tuesday, Nov. 10, warrants were obtained in this case. The case was investigated by Detective J. Guyton.
