A two vehicle accident left one dead in a 2 vehicle accident in Sampson County and a 20 year old Elizabethtown man is facing charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle and a yield violation.
The accident occurred on Thursday on US 13 around 11:00 a.m. near the Sampson-Cumberland county line.
53 year old John Henry Hamilton of Lumberton was reportedly traveling east on US 13 and as the van he was driving approached an intersection, it was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by Spencer Demery of Elizabethtown. Demery was attempting to cross US 13.
Hamilton was pronounced at the scene. Demery and a passenger in his vehicle, 21 year old Shirlene Bittle of Pembroke, were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
