The Elizabethtown Police Department is searching for a man who is wanted for the arson of an apartment building located at 700 Mercer Mill Road on Sunday night.

Sgt. W. Thompson said the fire started in Apartment 5B after Brandon Malone got into an argument with his girlfriend. At some point following the argument, Malone set a fire inside the apartment.

There were two minor children inside the home at the time of the fire, according to Sgt. Thompson.

“He fled the scene,” said Sgt. Thompson.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Malone on charges of arson and two counts of attempted murder. Sgt. Thompson said Malone does have ties to Robeson County.

Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the Elizabethtown Police Department at 910-862-3125.
