Elizabethtown Middle SchoolThe young men at Elizabethtown Middle School recently got to take part in a “Young Man’s Academy.” The morning’s speaker was Tripp Lancaster.

Principal Elizabeth Cole said that the program is currently involving 5th and 6th grade young men. She said that the program encompasses the principles that they will need for being successful in business and life.

Cole said a letter was sent out to parents explaining the program and asking permission for their student to attend. She said that there were 25 slots for 6th graders and 30 to 35 slots were made available for 5th graders. Cole said that teachers nominated students to take part in the program.

She said the students are learning things such as business etiquette, business attire, and such. Cole said that students are encouraged to dress in their business attire or Sunday best on Wednesdays.

Cole said that the intent is to bring guest speakers from the business community to also talk with the students. Since the program began, she said more students are asking how they can take part and if they, too, can dress up.

Cole said that there has been 100 percent participation from the students. She said the school has received donations from the community to help make sure the kids have everything they need to take part.
