The Elizabethtown Optimist Club is proud to sponsor 15 year old Cade Hancock, son of Jim and Polly Hancock, to attend The Optimist Junior Golf tournament. As a Freshman at Harrells Christian Academy, Hancock is the number one golfer for the school and has established quite a resume for himself. The tournament will be held in Palm Beach Florida at the PGA Resort and Spa and is host to over six thousand young golfers.

Hancock was very grateful and stated “Thank you for all of the support, to my parents for taking me everywhere, and to God for getting me here.”

The Elizabethtown Optimist Club, as well as NC East look forward to the tournament and the great things this young golfer has in store. We are excited to see him play in this tournament and represent the organization.

The Optimist Club is also proud to present the Dr. Bruce Phillips scholarship to Abigail Ward and Stephen McDonald at East and West Bladen for the annual essay contest. The essay and oratorical contest is held every year as a way to give back to the community. We hope to have growing participation as we continue this tradition.  There will also be a scholarship given at the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy graduation, winner to be announced.

At the Elizabethtown Optimist Club we are proud to give back to the community and to the youth of Bladen County. We participate in annual fund raisers and give every penny back to support our young men and women. The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 13, at San Jose at 6:30 p.m. Please come and check us out!
