Michael Leinwand was sworn in as a new member of the Elizabethtown Planning Board at their meeting Monday evening. Chairman Bobby Kinlaw stated Leinwand comes to the Board with a lot of experience in planning and zoning and will be a welcomed addition to the board.
Bill Holland presented to the Board the proposed Updated Zoning Ordinaces. He and the committee have been working since May 2016 on the proposed changes. They were tasked with producing a business friendly ordinance and he feels they have done just that.
Holland stated that the updates are consistant with current State and Federal regulations; give the Town flexibility; removed obstacles (signage and limited business along the by-pass); and is more organized and user-friendly. He stated the ordinace is a not-static document and will have to be changed as regulations are changed. He thanked the committee and Town staff who helped with the process.
The draft will be reviewed by the Planning Board and they will make their recommendation to the Town Council on June 4th. There is also a public hearing on the Proposal on June 4th.
