The town of Elizabethtown is the recipient of a $70,000 grant from the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority’s Economic Infrastucture program.

The funds will be used to extend a water line to the building which is currently under construction at Taylor Manaufacturing. When complete, the building will house D’Vine Foods, a gift shop and a restaurant.

“It’s a good project for us,” said Town Manager Eddie Madden.

He said the same contractor that is working on the NC Department of Transportation project at US 701 and NC 87 Bypass will also install the water line.

“Because the work is being done within the construction limits of the underpass project, the work has to be performed by the same contractor doing the underpass work,” said Madden.

Madden added the $70,000 cost is based on the contractor’s estimate for completing the work.

“We wrote the grant using his quote for the grant amount,” said Madden.

He added that town staff anticipate the work on the water line installation to be completed in the next 60 to 90 days.
