An Elizabethtown teenager is in custody on an attempted murder charge following a shooting Wednesday afternoon, according to Elizabethtown Police Chief Bobby Kinlaw.

Marquail Dashawn McKoy, 16, of the 1700 block of Baldwin Branch Church Road, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, go armed to the terror of people, and discharging a firearm in town limits. Bail was set at $317.500.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Kemp Street in Elizabethtown in response to shots being fired about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Kinlaw said. The investigation found that McKoy and another person had argued inside a residence. McKoy then left the residence and the second person followed a short time later, Kinlaw said.

McKoy shot at the man as he came out of the residence, Kinlaw said, before fleeing the scene. No one was struck by the shot, but officers found a bullet hole in the man’s shirt, and the bullet went inside the residence, Kinlaw said.

McKoy was found about 8:35 p.m. on West King Street, Kinlaw said.
