The Elizabethtown Town Council met Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting.  Council members heard an update on several projects from Assistant Town Manager, Pat DeVane.  Phase 2 of the Streetscape Project is progressing with the last of the underground cables laid last week.  The new Fire and Rescue building started out slowly, but has gained momentum.  The roofing should be completed next week.  DeVane stated, “It is looking like a building now and is taking shape.”  DeVane reported that the Greene’s Lake Park project is in the planning stages and the City Cemetery project has the engineers procuring the needed permits and will start the project once FEMA funding is approved.
In other business, Council tabled vote on annexation of Bladen Communiuty Services, LLC, Bladen County Detention and Law Enforcement Center, and other county properties located on Smith Circle.  Council appointed Larry Richards, retired Volunteer Fireman to serve on the Local Firemen’s Relief Fund Board, due to the death of Jack Cross.
Council adopted a resolution recognizing Halloween Trick or Treating on Thursday, October 31st from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Only children age 12 and under are allowed to solicit treats in the community.  Children under age 9 must be accopanied by an adult.  A curfew will be in effect for all youth between the ages of 13 and Adult age after 11:00 p.m. on the 31st until 6:00 a.m. on November 1st.
