Elizabethtown Town Council with lady eagles

Mayor Campbell introduced the East Bladen Lady Eagles Basketball Team during theMonday evening meeting of the Elizabethtown Town Council. Coach Patty Evers and  Assistant Coach Allen West were praised for their leadership over the last 15 years.  The team was recognized for not only their athletic accomplishments, but also for their academic excellence this season.

A Public Hearing was held for citizen comments on voluntary annexation of two tracts of land at the Elizabethtown Industrial Park, that make up the Cape Fear Winery.   No public comments were made and Council approved a resolution to adopt the Annexation Ordinance later in the meeting.  A second resolution was approved to conduct an  Asset Inventory  and Assessment of the Wastewater System.

Council approved the expenditure of $15,000 for the Town’s local match for the Golden Leaf grant for the Industrial Park Master Plan project.  In other administrative matters, Council approved the Engineering Services Agreement with W.K. Dickson; awarded banking services as recommended by Jay Leatherman; reappointed to Debbie Campbell and Joe Luther to the Elizabethtown Recreation Commission; approved Budget Amendments, monthly financial report and Tax releases as presented.  

East Point CherylMayor Campbell introduced Cheryl Harris with EASTPOINTE, an agency that manages mental health services for our community.  Ms. Harris stated that EASTPOINTE serves a 12 county region which includes Bladen County.  She just wanted to make sure the Town was aware of their mental health resources that are available to the citizens.
 
Town Offices will be closed on March 25th for the Easter Holiday.
