Dixie Youth BaseballElizabethtown rolled to a 20-8 victory over West Robeson National in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 Minors Championship Game Wednesday night in Red Springs.

Elizabethtown and West Robeson National will both advance to the DYB Minors State Tournament that begins July 11 in Lillington.

Elijah Bullard and Coleman Tatum connected for 3 hits each to lead Elizabethtown’s 14-hit attack. Bullard blasted a home run and scored 3 times. Coleman Tatum scored twice.

Catcher Garrison Tatum, Walker Ward and Jackson Wright belted 2 hits each for the winners. Garrison Tatum walloped a home run and scored 2 runs. Ward scored 3 runs, and Wright scored one run.

Evan Pait and Zamar Lewis added one hit each for the winners. Lewis scored 3 times, and Pait and Ryan Johnson scored 2 runs each.

Pait started on the mound for Elizabethtown and pitched 2 scoreless innings, striking out 3 and walking two. Coleman Tatum relieved Pait in the third and pitched 2 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 3 runs and 2 walks. Jackson Wright pitched the fifth inning and struck out one, while giving up 3 walks and 5 runs.

Members of the district champions who won all 5 of their games in the tournament include: Carson Gooden, Coleman Tatum, Nathan Howell, Tyler Johnson, Garrison Tatum, Elijah Bullard, Jake Futrell, Evan Pait, Zamar Lewis, Ryan Johnson, Jackson Wright, Ty Mathis, and Walker Ward. Coaches are Kim Johnson, Smiley Butler, Steve Tatum, and Grant Pait.
