An Elizabethtown woman was charged with identify theft after a Whiteville Police Officer attempted to serve warrants for driving while license revoked and identity theft from Robeson County on June 16th.

According to Division Commander Major A. May, with the Whiteville Police Department, officers were contacted by members of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office regarding outstanding warrants for Sasha Willis of Elizabethtown who is employed in Whiteville.

According to Major May, officers spoke with Willis and advised her she was under arrest for the outstanding warrants from Robeson County. Whiteville Police Officer J. Rawls recognized Willis from a prior traffic stop he had performed. However, she had given him a different name at the time of the traffic stop.

“Her license was revoked at the time (of the traffic stop). She gave him somebody else’s license when she was stopped,” said Major May.

The license had the name of Wyteshia Rogers, according to Major May.

She was arrested and charged by the Whiteville Police Department with identity theft, speeding, and driving while license revoked. She is facing charges in Robeson County of identity theft, driving while license revoked and misdemeanor conspiracy. She was placed in the Columbus County Jail under a $10,500 secured bond, according to Major May.
