The N.C. Department of transportation announced Monday morning that Elwell Ferry will be closed through Wednesday because of high water levels.
The cable-operated ferry crosses the Cape Fear River and connects N.C. 87 and N.C. 53 connecting Carvers Creek and Kelly. It’s located at 2700 Elwell Ferry Road.
Other road-related announcements for Bladen County include:
CLOSED
• US 701 Business (College Street) will be closed at the CSX railroad in Clarkton beginning Tuesday, March 7 at 8 a.m. and will remain closed through Thursday, March 9 at 5 p.m. so that CSX can perform track maintenance. Use US 701 Bypass as an alternate route.
• SR1003 (Faulkner Road) at NC 211 is closed for crossline repair through March 17 at 5 p.m.
• US 701N: Both lanes of the northbound side over the Cape Fear River are closed. Traffic will be rerouted to the southbound lanes. The closure has a wide load traffic restriction.
