NC Charter School Advisory Board approves Charter School for BladenThe North Carolina Charter State Board of Education approved eight new charter schools to open their doors to students beginning in 2017. One of those schools that will be opening its doors is  Emereau: Bladen.

The school is slated to open in the 2017-18 academic year and will serve grades K-6 and add an additional grade each year until it becomes a K-12 by 2023.

According to a release, the Emereau Bladen mission statement provides the framework for the entire school community:  At Emereau, we illuminate to embark; we investigate to discover; we innovate to transform; we cultivate to sustain; we celebrate to thrive – realizing the potential within us – we graduate. E=i(3)c(2)g!

  • Applications for students will be available online at midnight on Friday, November 4, 2016.
  • Information regarding Community Information Sessions will be posted on the school’s website beginning in October 2016.
  • Employment information and applications will be available on the school’s website beginning in October 2016.

Emerau’s board submitted applications for five new schools, but Bladen County was the only one approved to open for 2017.

Other schools approved to open in 2017 include Discovery Charter School in Durham, Johnston Charter Academy in Johnston County, Montcross Academy in Gaston County, Movement School in Mecklenburg County, Rolesville Charter Academy in Wake County, UpROAR Leadership Academy in Mecklenburg County, and Twin City High School in Forsyth County.
