Road Closures:
NEW! – SR 1100 (Center Road) – NEW!
We had to close SR 1100 this afternoon due to a sinkhole that developed as a result of heavy flows from Hermine. The location of the closure is 0.66 miles north of SR 1121 (Zion Hill Church Road). In a twist of irony, we had this pipe scheduled for replacement this week but had to shift schedules in order to fix the problem that developed on SR 1003 (Twisted Hickory) last week. We will start a full replacement of the pipe on Monday. Use NC 211 and SR 1128 (Berry Lewis Road) for access around the work area.
SR 1003 (Twisted Hickory Road)
SR 1003 remains closed 0.55 miles north of SR 1134 (Burney Road). The work should be completed on Friday. Until then, use White-McEwan Road and Mitchell Ford Road for access around the work area.
Elwell Ferry:
Elwell Ferry is operating. Hours will change later this week to ‘winter’ hours due to the time of sunrise getting noticeably later each morning.
